WASTE RECYCLING CENTRE FIRE DAMAGE (MIDLANDS)

We were recently called to a large waste recycling centre in the Midlands. There had been a large fire due to lithium batteries igniting. Full risk assessments were prepared on site and we worked closely with the production staff in returning the premises to functional operation as quickly as possible.
From beginning to end the timescale was approximately five weeks, with our staff on site nearly every day to maintain efficiency and continuity of the project. The senior commercial loss adjuster was very complimentary about all our efforts and the trustworthy, reliable approach our staff demonstrated in turning this difficult job into a winning situation for all concerned.
Detailed listings of the damaged contents enabled rapid settlement of the claim and minimised the business interruption and associated costs.

WATER ESCAPE & LABORATORY DECONTAMINATION (GRAYSON & CO, COVENTRY)

We received a phone call from R Grayson and Co Ltd in Coventry following a burst pipe over the weekend in the changing rooms causing a large amount of water damage in the quality control test laboratory below.
After carrying out a full survey there were significant concerns regarding contamination in the laboratory area. Full risk assessments were completed on site and then we set up a ventilation system to allow our engineers to work safely and ensure all the test equipment was cleaned, decontaminated and tested prior to reuse.
The lab was returned to full operation within a record 19 days from our date of instruction.

MOULD & DAMP REMEDIATION IN SOCIAL HOUSING

It is often the case that human occupancy and lifestyle affect the living conditions, particularly in social housing situations.
Lancashire-based Bolton Housing Association recently asked us to investigate the mould and damp problems at this two-bedroom apartment.
Poor ventilation and blocking up of extractor vents, combined with 24-hour occupancy, all led to a large amount of excessive moisture in the atmosphere which had allowed mould to propagate in both bedrooms.

FARM SHOP FIRE DAMAGE & STONEWORK RESTORATION (SALISBURY)

A farm shop in Salisbury suffered an electrical fire leading to extensive damage. As can be seen from the images, the entire structure was affected and while alternative temporary premises were available, we needed to carry out vortex cleaning of all the feature stonework before any building work and shop refitting could be done.
Our work was fully completed within 10 days, having the quotation passed, which ensured the refit would be completed in time for the busy Christmas season. Fully trained MEWP operators carried out detailed stone blast cleaning — removing fire and combustion products to eliminate odour and seal the surfaces of the stonework — saving many thousands of pounds for the insurers.
